MEET DR. BRUCE C. LAUTENSCHLAGER

Pragmatic, Observational, and Real With Writing.

Dr. Bruce Lautenschlager is a thirty‑seven‑year veteran of public education, known to many simply as “Dr. L.” Over the course of his career, he has served as a teacher, coach, dean of students, assistant principal, and principal, gaining a wealth of experience across middle schools and alternative education settings. Though he pursued advanced degrees, committees, and recognition, his true passion has always been working directly with students. Early in his career, he co‑developed and patented equipment to support physically handicapped students in physical education classes, a project now being updated with Rose Hulman Ventures.

As he approaches retirement, Dr. L is committed to sharing the lessons he has learned with college students and young teachers. His goal is to help them build strong teaching foundations by offering practical insights and “tricks of the trade” that encourage educators to see students differently and keep them at the heart of their profession. Believing that much of what is done in public education needs rethinking, he hopes to inspire the next generation of teachers to focus on what truly matters students and their learning.
